    Zane Grey has outdone himself with the masterful way he has painted the picture of wheat farmers and their love of the land. The imagery of the protagonists as they deal with the major issues of life transports the reader into the "bend" region of Oregon during the early years of World War 1 and the joys and hardships encountered. There are scenes from rural farm life, contending with militant union organizers, military battle experience, and, of course, romance. For readers who enjoy and appreciate skillful use of words I heartily recommend this book.
